It appears on many old maps of the area, including Roques, and is as much a 'landmark' as the nearby 'Three Barrows'. But it doesnt appear in 'Surrey Placenames' or similar publications.
No luck in searching A2A so far ....
and Surrey Archives in Woking nor Surrey Heath Museum could throw any light on it.any pointers appreciated .. would really like to know how it became so named !
Cheers, The Newfster
