*** FERGUSON / REILLY / DOHERTY ***
« on: Monday 15 December 08 17:20 GMT (UK) »
Hi Guys,
Help required... I have been doing genealogy for quite a few years (but focussed on Scotland) .... however am struggling with some newly "discovered" Irish ancestors....
I have found a BAPTISM RECORD (via IFHF) which states:
MARGARET REILLY - baptised in DUNDALK, Co. LOUTH on 3rd April 1877 by J McCANN - son of PATRICK REILLY and ANNE DOHERTY (religion RC)

I would like to find the usual stuff I would find in Scotlad .... such as
BIRTH CERTIFICATE for MARGARET
MARRIAGE for PATRICK and ANNE
DC / MI for PATRICK or ANNE....

Any help or advice would be v. much appreciated....

regards
Bob

Irish records are completely different both in their content and accessing them.
IGI lists quite a few possible children for Patrick Reilly + Anne Doheerty. Go to www.familysearch.org and do parent search on advanced search page by filling in only names of both parents and then view the results.
Civil registration of births, deaths and Catholic marriages started in 1864 (from 1845 for other marriages).
To order Irish civil certificate (you do need to have a fair idea of the date) see:
http://www.groireland.ie/apply_for_a_cert.htm
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi Aghadowey,
Thanks for the super-quick reply .... from the IGI search... I think all the LOUTH births are the family I am researching as the names - VINCENT - JOHN - PATRICK (JAMES) - WILLIAM and MARY-ELLEN all appeared in subsequent generations...
I think the SCOTTISH births are a different REILLY / DOCHERTY marriage...
thanks again.....
Bob
