Great-great grandfather John Davis, it is said, was an English sea captain and son of a Protetstant minister. He was born in 1823 , I believe, in Liverpool.
I have little information on him. He fell in love with a Catholic girl, to his fathers regret. He left England with her and came to America where they settled in Chicago. I Chicago, he was a Mason and a member of the Son's of St. George Masonic Order.
