Benhall Street and Benhall Green are just to the immediate south of Saxmundham.  Both Benhall and Sax came under Plomesgate Hundred/Union.

One of the Sax charities paid for poor boys of the town to be educated at Benhall school.

Bentham might well be Benhall.

Benhall parish church is St Mary and the PRs have been filmed.

Saxmundham St John were not filmed due to a ban by a previous incumbent - but although the Suffolk Record Office web site says that permission has not been granted for filming, a fellow researcher assures me that the ban has now been lifted and the PRs for Sax are now more readily available - needs checking out.

Benhall is on the list of parish look ups at the Suffolk Look Up Exchange at www.suffolk-surnames-list.co.uk

There is this death -

Ap/May/Jun 1921
john Stocks
age 55
Wisbech ref 3b 571

which was the nearest I could find of the right age, in East Anglia sort of area - ish.

But reading back through your posts it looks like he moved up north.  There is also a death of one of right age in YOrkshire in 1915.

could well be him Liz...........  Husbands Father always believed that His Dad and Uncle, John William and Charles Edward came to the North as Gravediggers,  so maybe they moved back down south after 1901.

will send for MC  for John to Ellen Maria Spall. maybe will get info from that,

also did anyone have any luck finding Johns Occupation at Death (Sexton)>
John William 1902 always lived in the same house before and after his Marriage in 1929.  Rectory Road Winlaton,

kind regards
again
