Royal Warwickshire Regt. WW!
« on: Wednesday 17 December 08 21:41 GMT (UK) »
Hi.

I have a ancestor who's medal card states he was killed in action.  I have learnt that he was killed 04/05/1917 and he appears on the Arras Memorial.
I thought he may have been killed at the battle for Vimy ridge but I believe this battle was over by 1917 and was fought by the Canadians mainly.  If this is the case what other battles are remembered at the Arras Memorial' My ancestor was 9612 Jesse Jacobs. Royal Warwickshire Regt. He went to France 01/06/1915.
Any info appreciated,

Dud.

Hello Dud,

The 2nd Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment were part of 22nd Brigade, 7th Division.

At the time of Jesse's death, it looks like they were involved in the Second Battle of Bullecourt.
