1841, 51 or 61 Census - EVERITT
« on: Thursday 18 December 08 01:53 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

Best wishes of the season  :)

Could anyone with access to the 1841, 1851 or 1861 census for Cambridgeshire please do a look-up for me? It's to add an extra layer of family to a genealogy Christmas present so I'm really hoping someone can help.

I'm looking for the EVERITT family; William (born c1820) and his wife Martha (born c1820) and probably one or more children.  I know that William and Martha married in Cambridge in 1846 and had several children before emigrating to New Zealand in 1862.

Martha's maiden name was IRELAND and her father's name was supposedly James IRELAND so if anyone could also look for this family name it would be most appreciated.

Many thanks,

Debs

Hi Debs

Ah Snap Tati    ;D  ;D was just going to post the same - will leave you too it, I'm sure you're onto it!

The address in 1861, BTW was 17 Jesus Lane. Went a few pages back and it looked a bit like it but wasn't 100% sure...but
Martha IRELAND  is on that same Lane, in 1841 clearly written .  :D

This chappie was lodging with them in 1851 too, same address but seperate Household Schedule, I think it was.
Lodger: Robert H? MOSELY 20, unm, Student, b Stevenage? Hertfordshire

Cheers

If you check the Baptism Index on the Cambs FHS website at http://www.cfhs.org.uk/Search.html there's an 1818 baptism of Martha Ireland, daughter of James and Rachel, at Cambridge Holy Sepulchre

The burial index on the same site shows James, husband of Rachel buried in 1835 age 54

In 1851
Glebe Passage, Sepulchre, Cambridge
Rachel Ireland head widow 65 Bed? maker b Linton Cambs
Sarah Ireland dau unmarr 21 b Cambridge
James? Thorpe nephew unmarr 21 Servant at coffee house b Linton

In 1841 HO107/86/5 folio 4 page 2
Clement Place, St Clement Cambridge
Rachel Ireland 50 College servant
George Ireland 25 Cordwainer
Susan Ireland 15
William Ireland 14 Cordwainers apprentice
Sarah Ireland 12
All born in Cambs

They were only 4 houses further on from Robert Everitt and family, on the next page

Wow!

It's just like waking up on Christmas morning  :D

I turn on the computer and all these gorgeous genealogy angels have delivered a wealth of family information. Thank you all so much!!

Tati & Ambly - you are wonderful. I'm so excited to be able to present all this information to my partner's parents on Christmas Day. You've also created a wonderful mystery for me to follow up on with the mention of a son born in Australia  :o

And David - thank you so much for the information on the Ireland family. You obviously put in so much work finding the census, baptism and burial records.

I can't thank you all enough. Have a wonderful Christmas  :-*
