Non-conformists quite often used Old Testament names, certainly more likely to than members of the established church. If you have a look the IGI for all of Wales and search for a baptism of Shadrack Davies, 7 of the 12 extracted records are non-conformist places of worship. It's not a hard and fast rule, just a possibility.
