HILLS and ELDRIDGE families
« on: Tuesday 23 December 08 23:02 GMT (UK) »
I wonder if you can help me please.

One of my great-great-great-grandparents was Elizabeth Hills.  She was born in Boughton Aluph in 1828 and married William Eldridge who was born in West Hythe in 1824.  William was a farmer with 22 acres according to the 1881 census.  Elizabeth's mother was Eliza, born in Eastwell in 1803.

Any information on the Hills and Eldridge families would be appreciated.  I can share the extended family information I have.

Thanks,

Clive

The parish church of West Hythe had long been defunct by the time your William ELDRIDGE was born so he was more than likely to have been baptised in one of the neighbouring parishes - quite likely Lympne.

There is a baptism for a William ELDRIDGE on the IGI http://www.familysearch.org in 1824 son of Henry and Alice.  Whether it is your William or not is perhaps questionable but I would say that it is a good possibility.  Perhaps the marriage certificate for Elizabeth HILLS to William ELDRIDGE would confirm the name of his father.
