Hi Alan and Tom,

There are only 2 baptisms on Milton PRs for the name Tame :)

7 Jan 1727 William Tame son of Thomas and Allice
28 Dec 1729 Thomas Tame son of Thomas and Allice

There are no burials in Milton for the name Tame and only 1 marriage for a Joseph in 1863

Thanks Sue
When I looked at the Milton register a while ago it's fairly certain the Tames were only there for a few years, Thomas and Alice were married in S. Abingdon but I haven't got as far as tracing where they were born yet, I'm 70 miles from Reading and I only manage it once a year!
Regards

Tom

Tom.... doing a quick search of Abingdon St Helens PRs the marriage of Thomas and Alice is

down as 3 July 1726, Thomas a yeoman of Milton and also Alice is down as from Milton.

Will just have another look to see any earlier marriages that may help :)

Hi Sue,

Thats very kind of you to check the Milton PRs as I was about to post a request for that parish.

I will have to try Abingdon and Culham next as I don't have those records on disc-- yet

Alan.... Have checked Culham PRs and no marriage or baps for name Tame/Thame

in Culham at all :(

The marriage you need is not in Abingdon either, i will try a few other nearby villages for you :) :)

The only marriage i found in Abingdon PRs is this one thats near to a birth maybe for Thomas ???

15 Mar 1712 Francis Tame, lab Marcham to Catherine Curtis of Marcham

Thanks Sue
I need to go down and work through all the local parishes to find any clue as to their origins.

Dear Tomtame

Have a look at

http://www.berkshireenclosure.org.uk/default.asp

do a search for Robert Tame and you will find him listed.  It's a great website packed with information re land ownership but it's quite an effort to find what you're looking for.  He is definately listed in the index but I haven't got as far as finding him in the actual original documents.

Hello
Thanks, I've actually been through a lot of the enclosure docs a few years ago, he is there for very small amounts of land in Ardington and Hendred.
