Edward Baker
« on: Saturday 27 December 08 04:13 GMT (UK) »
I have an Edward Baker coming to Australia with his mother Mary Jane Baker and his brother Henry and sisters Mary Jane and Amelia on 26/10/1834. He was 6 so would have been born 1827.
I cannot find anything about him so can someone help please?
I have tracked the others but not him.He may have been Edward William Baker.
Thanks, Carolyn

From his year of birth more than likely to be NSW or Tasmania?

He came on "Prince Regent"from London to Port Jackson on 26/10//1834 at age 6 years. His father was Gardiner Baker (Nassau,West Indies) but he had died in 1831 so mum brought the children out here.
Thanks for your prompt replies.

Hi

They may have come to Port Jackson - Sydney,  but looking at the NSW BDMs,  can find no trace of them staying there ?
Maybe moved on to another state ?

They must have lived in Sydney as the two girls and Henry married in Sydney. The two girls moved to NZ to live and Henry moved to Maitland area to have his family but what of Edward ......which is my original question.....I can't find him anywhere.

We don't know as we can't find her also.
To look for the death of Mary Jane Baker is hard as it could be M or MJ or many variations. I have bought 2 certificates and they weren't her.
She may have remarried but we don't know and so Edward and her, are whom we are searching for, especially Edward.
Thanks,
Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,

I have a Henry Baker in Maitland who had a brother William.  Whom did your Henry marry?  There were quiet a few Henry and William Bakers in Maitland at this time but I haven't come across an Edward.  My Henry had 3 marriages I think.  I am not at home at the moment so don't have access to my records.

Andcarred.
