Can anyone help me pinpoint Laggawsgair, Rannoch, please.  The address is on a death certificate.

Thanks.

Hi BigT

As most names around there are Gaelic it is probably not spelt that way at all, that may be what it sounded like so it was an anglisized phonetic version that was written down.

I would recommend trying to find someone who speaks gaelic and asking them what it could sound like - and how it would be spelt!

Around the western end of Loch Rannoch there is a peak with the name "Leagag" (due south of Finnart) also further west is the river Geārr Ghaoir.  Maybe it could be a corruption of one of these words? (My uneducated guess...)

Hello bigt and KirstyG,

I had a bit of a scroll around Loch Rannoch on the streetmap.co.uk site and came up with:
Lagganesgair Cotts.

Seems pretty likely.

This is on the north shore of Loch Rannoch not far west of Kinloch Rannoch

Might be worth having a look on Old Maps too ...
