Oxford RO request
« on: Thursday 01 January 09 10:35 GMT (UK) »

If anyone is going to the Oxford Records Office soon I would really appreciate a check on a baptism in the Parish Registers for Bampton.

from the IGI extracted batch C022082

29 Aug 1773  BEECHEY Ann   d/o Wm & Elizabeth

from the OFHS transcribed prs cd  (Witney vol. 4)

29 Aug 1773   ----  Ann  d/o William & Elizabeth   illegitimate

no surname given.  I don't think she was illegitimate as William & Elizabeth BEECHEY married in 1758 and were having children in Bampton from 1759 to 1779

Am hoping that the OFHS entry is wrong and is just a very rare glitch   :(

Sorry to jump in here...but I would also like to request a Look-up at the Oxford RO, - & so am posting here rather than starting a new thread. (Hope thats Ok).

My request is for either a Birth or Baptism Entry for:

William James Warren, born 1857(Approx) in St Giles, Oxford.

On the 1881 & '91 Censuses he is just James Warren, but is William James Warren on his children's Marriage Certs.

I have never been able to find a Birth Entry for him:-(

Cheers, Romilly :)

Hi Romilly

I've had a personal search done in the Oxford records (8 or 9 years ago) for the elusive William James, regrettably without result.

Still, I suppose it doesn't hurt to have another go ....... just in case!

Fingers crossed.

Best regards
