1841 1851 census lookup trowse? please
« on: Tuesday 08 February 05 21:39 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone look up the 1841 and1851 census for norfolk please. the name is william Gray born 1838, fathers name william. The 1871 census for spalding gave his birthplace as trowse and occupation as hawker. I can't seem to find him before this.
               Thankyou Sue

Hi flylby,

Had a look on the 1851 but couldn't find a William Gray born in Trowse or Spalding. There were quite a few.

Do any of the other census give any other place of birth?

Did he always live in the same place or did he move around a bit.

Sorry I couldn't find him for you. If there is anywhere else you want me to try let me know.

All the best. Angela.

Hi Angela,
Thankyou for replying to my post.
Unfortunatley all i know about him is on 1871 census for Spalding he gave birthplace as trowse. Have marriage cert for him , he married a spalding girl and settled there, the cert gave his fathers name as William also. Have looked on the 1837 for him but nothing under Trowse. I hoped the census might of flushed him out, being a hawker i suppose he could be anywhere. Thankyou for taking the time.  Sue

Hi Sue,

Would you like me to look on the 1861 for him, Was he married then and living in Spalding. If I could find him on that it might help you get back a bit further with him.

All the best Angela.

Hi again,

Spalding not on the norfolk discs. Had a look at a map and it lists Spalding as Lincolnshire. So maybe thats where he could be hiding??

All the best Angela.

Hi Angela, was just posting back to you and lost connection and post(grrrr). I would love you to look on the 1861 norfolk for him. He married in Spalding in 1869, I cant find him there prior to that, hope that makes sense now. Thanks Sue
