Knockaroo look up
« on: Wednesday 09 February 05 03:33 GMT (UK) »
could someone help out with the name
DARCY or poss DARCY (leaning toward Darcy)

I have a Mary Darey/Darcy born c1822 to John (father)
no mother mentioned.
She married a Daniel Ryan c 1841 and had the following
Timothy b1844
Ellen      b1847
Hannah b 1849
John      b 1851
Daniel   b 1854
Ann       b 1857
male born ? (all births are approx years)

Mary's husband seems to have died prior to 1864 as
she emigrates to Australia alone with her children.

Are there many parish churches records in Knockaroo available?

Any suggestions or info much appreciated.

Hello jjjj2

Thank you for your response to a very old request.

If there is a large gravestone of Darcy in the Knockaroo graveyard do you have a photo or do you know how I can obtain one.

Thank you for letting me know that the records are held at the library.

Greetings from Sydney Australia
Rosalie

Thank you for the photographs of Knockaroe graveyard.
I haven't yet pieced together all the Darcy and Ryans in Knockaroe district yet.
Mary Darcy it seems married in Tipperary, but little is known where as yet.  Her children (assume) were born in Tipperary.  Darcy and Cuddy families definately in Laois.
Any snippet of information is always appreciated.

Knowing the surrounding townlands (ie how far from Knockaroe) would be great.
Are there any detailed maps other than google maps.

Hi Rosalie have posted a townsland Map of Borris in Ossory in the same album as the Darcy headstone photos on Picasa Web Albums . Bawngorra appears on this map as Derryvorrigan  this townsland is known by both names in the parish even today
