Thanks, yes this is the family, it says Ann is 1 month old but I cannot find her birth on any of the sites. There is so many spellings of the surname. Just wondered if there was anyone living in the area that would be willing to do a look up for me

FreeBMD has a few Hardee's for births, marriages, and death in Bridgend from 1840 to 1846 (widened the search in case a phonetic match gave some more clues), but nothing like your Ann on there on a Glamorgan search?

I make the assumption she was born in county as I don't have access to the census at home.

Does Ann turn up on later Census returns, or does she vanish in 1851? Could we make the assumption that she may never have been registered in birth or death records? Not sure how pro-active people were back then in ensuring the procedures were followed?

The family (including Ann) turns up again in 1851 at the same address but this time they are called HARTLE! the only way I found them was by putting Garden Street into The Geneologist! Ann was married in 1860 so she moved.

Hmm, nothing on Hartle either on phonetic search.

Do you have them on later census again, or any certificates - I think that's the only way you're going to be able to narrow down the correct surname - you can't rule out mistranscription by the original enumerator, or whoever has transribed the records to the website (or both!)
