Pote family help please
« on: Wednesday 07 January 09 23:14 GMT (UK) »
Hello all

Can somebody please help me locate William Pote born Bristol c1807.
On the 1851 census he was living in Wolverhampton.
His occupation was Master Clock and Watch maker and Jeweller.
His wifes name is Ann.
Ann was born c1807 in Wolverhampton.

Im actually without ancestry at the moment and i cant find him on any census after 1851.

Any help would be great

Kind regards

Danny

Forgot to mention, on the 1841 census he was living in Hackney London and was down as a Goldsmith.

Hi Danny

I found Ann Pote born 1802 in Wolverhampton lodging with Elizabeth Brazier in Wolverhampton in 1861 census. She said that she was married. William must have been alive still.

Are you looking for his baptism?

Hi Ben

I think William died 1883 in Walsall Staffs. I still can only find him on 1841-51, would love to find him on any other census.

Ive not found his baptism to date.

Thats my guy.

I thought with a name like Pote and an occupation like Goldsmith/Jeweller he would be easy to locate but he's like Houdini.

Hi

Pote is a rare surname.

I think him and Ann must have separated as she is a servant in Wolverhampton in 1871.

You dont by chance have the ref details for Ann on the 1861-71 census?

I think she may have been on the 1881 census as im sure i saw a possible death for her in Walsall.

Thankyou for the help :)
