Hi all,
I don't know if anyone else has tried it but I've found that if you put a surname in the forename space in the 1911 census search while leaving the surname space blank you will come up with more individuals you may have been looking for.
For example I entered McCalmont & found that Jane Ritchie McCalmont, born 1873, had married Joseph Worthington & they had a son William McCalmont Worthington.
So if you are looking for the marriage partner of a relative this trick might give you a research hint.
Good hunting.
