1891 Census COMPLETE WITH THANKS TO LIZ AND DS
« on: Saturday 10 January 09 16:09 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I am having great difficulty in finding the following in the 1891 census.

Walter Atkinson (bn 1868, Castleford)
Elizabeth Jane Atkinson (bn 1871 Liverpool)
William Thoma Atkinson (bn 1890, Whitwood)

I have the family in 1901 (living in Whitwood) and Walter previously in 1881 and 1871 but despite spending the afternoon searching on The Genealogist site can't come up with them at all.  I have found some entries are missing from this site previously so perhaps this is another one.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Bob

Thanks Liz

I have found that family in 1881 but unfortunately it is not one of my lot.  Atkinson is a common name in that area unfortunatley.

Thanks

I've got them at RG12 3763 134 31, but the image is SOOOO faint I can hardly make it out at all.

According to Ancestry's efforts at transcription they are boarders in the h/h of the Inberry family, in Castleford - Walter age 32, Elizabeth age 20 and William T age 7 (guess it is actually1) but how they made anything from the image I dont know, perhaps the original is clearer before scanning.
Dont know what anyone else makes of it.

Hi Liz 8)

I think they are definitely the correct Atkinson people and they are living with the Oxberry family at 9 Smith’s Row, Castleford.

The Oxberry family can be seen (much more clearly) at the same address in 1901 at Pontefract RG13/4304 Folio 62 Page 3

Hi everybody

Thanks again to you all at rootschat for your hard work.

That is the correct family, as you say such a feint image and also the wrong age for Walter but certainly the right ones.

Thank you

Bob
