Hi Heywood,
Thanks for the find. I had tried a couple of abbreviations of William, but must have missed that one.
Yes the William I found (Piece 2287, 1841) by 1851 is at home and the family are Worsted Weavers. Cross him off.
The father and son suspects, both being stonemasons, both live in the parish of St. Jude, Bradford in 1851, rather than elsewhere. As this is a serious craft I'll go with this. Plus 2 other siblings and their ages match.
For completeness for other readers here is the MURGATROYD family extracted from the 1841 and 1851
John MURGATROYD 1807
Ann MURGATROYD 1811
William MURGATROYD 1831
Sarah MURGATROYD 1832
Eliza MURGATROYD 1835
Joseph MURGATROYD 1836
Lucy MURGATROYD 1840
Susannah MURGATROYD 1841
Rhoda MURGATROYD 1843
Samuel MURGATROYD 1845
Emma MURGATROYD 1846
Ann MURGATROYD 1848
Alfred MURGATROYD 1851
Thanks again for the help
Mike
