It is not Gaelic.

What I can make out:
... .... Sabath? the ... last of may .....
.... ..... day George Boyd son lawfull ................
and Elizabeth Johnstoun was baptized ?by ....
.....

It's difficult near the margins  :-\

Nell

In the column on the left, I can't read the first line, but then it says "the whole congregation"

Hi Brenda,

I've just checked the IGI at:
http://www.familysearch.org
and the baptism is there.

Georg BOYD, bap 31 May 1691, Airth Stirlingshire, parents Robert BOYD & Elizabeth JOHNSTOUN

Regards,

JAP
PS: The writing is Secretary Hand.
If you look up Old Handwriting in the Lexicon of Genealogical Terms & Abbreviations at:
http://surname.rootschat.com/lexicon/index.php
you will find references to threads with information about Secretary Hand.

I think it says "The quihlk day", rather than the 9th, it's just abbreviated.

Hello Aberdeen Archives,

You are, of course, right.  I'm embarrassed. :-[   :-[

I've edited my earlier post.

Many thanks!

JAP
PS: Brenda, quhilk (variously spelled and commonly abbreviated) means which.

Thanks for all the help.  I feel very lucky to have this baptism, given the date.  Have been looking for this for a long time.  A branch of this family ended up in Virginia USA.
