Wards court in Bolton
« on: Wednesday 14 January 09 12:32 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know if there was a street named Wards Court in Bolton? I am looking for my grandfather and his family in the 1911 census and I cant find them.
I have a  birth certificate from later in 1911 which has the address 2 Wards court, Bolton but his street does not exist on the website.

Many thanks for any help,

Matt

Hi Matt,

I found a Ward's Court on the 1881 census in the Little Bolton area, All Saints ecclesiastical ward, off Independent St.

I'm not too familiar with this area, but I found an Independent St in a 1970s A-Z off Folds Rd. Nearby is a Bullock St which is also mentioned in the 1881 census, so I think it was around there.

Doesn't seem to help with the 1911 though! It just gives you Ward's Court, Hindley, Wigan.  And a search for Independent St gives you Little Lever.
The 1911 search seems very picky, I've had to put parts of names in to find some of mine (no joy on McGibbon, but Gibbon found them  ::))

Good luck
 :) Barbara
