look up if possible - Lincoln - WOODCOCK
« on: Sunday 18 January 09 19:38 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I am trying to find details for James Richardson Woodcock - born in 1832, St Swithins Lincoln. Does not appear on the 1841 census with parents and siblings, so guessing he died. If anyone can find any details I would appreciate it.

Also, trying to find marriage details for Robert Woodcock. I suspect he married in Lincoln in 1860, I know from census records he married an Elizabeth, would love to fnd her maiden name.
Thanks

Marge

Marriage 14 May 1860 at Wesley Chapel (Clasketgate), Lincoln
Robert WOODCOCK (son of Robert) to Elizabeth SMITH (dau of Richard)

from Lincoln City spreadsheet, available at http://s10.freefronthost.com/mi/index.html

James R WOODCOCK doesn't show up in the National Burial Index.

Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened.

Glad I didn't send for the marriage cert - its the wrong Robert! Mine's father is John. Thanks for clarifying this for me - much appreciated.

That one seems to be living in Branston in 1861 (also born there) - it should be the one from the wedding, as there was a SMITH child in the house.

Do you have your Robert on any census after 1841?

EDIT: Oh, I see he had a ship in 1871.

There is a marriage of a Robert WOODCOCK in Q1 1853, indexed as Sculcoates 6d 215 - now Sculcoates was actually 9d (Not 6d).  9d 215 has a Mary Jane BAKER (and no one else).

EDIT again:  Yessss!

1861
1 Spring Row, Sculcoates, Hull
Robert WOODCOCK 28 Mariner, City of Lincoln
Mary Jane 29 Laundress, Hull
John Robert 3 Hull
Charlotte 2 Hull
Jane BAKER (relative, wid) 60 Lincs Brigg

The kids' name look quite helpful too! :D

I think Mary Jane died in 1876 then Robert married Mary Ann THOMPSON in 1877.  Look for Mary Ann WOODCOCK aged 45 in Yorks in 1881.
Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened.

Hi

Thank you so much - It amazes me how you uncover this info, really appreciate it. The rest of the Woodcock's ended up in Hull, so it makes sense.

Also, thanks for the buriel details

Marge  :)
