Thanks for the warm welcome.  This hasn't been the easiest of surnames to research!!

Btw, for those searching the Cracowski/Krakofsky/Krakowski and variants surname, my Dad said that when the family came to this country they could not speak English and were given the surname "Cracowski" to show that they had come from Cracow.

Logical when you think of it isn't it!!!  ;D ;D

Yes, I suppose it is!
If husbands left their wives or were bigamist's it becomes even more confusing!
In such difficult times everything surely comes down to survival.

Oohhh! Mum got me World membership on Ancestry today, I do love my mum ;D and found this, so looks like they were in the U.S. for a bit

Philadelphia Passenger Lists
List of vessels arriving in Philadelphia
S.S. Southwark sailing from Liverpool, June 1894 arriving at the port of Philadelphia 23rd June 1894

Details for all are...

Rebecca Krakowsky, 26, F, Mar, Wife, Russian, Last Residence - London, landing in Philae., destination New York, joining husband, never been in prison or supported by charity

Barnetts details are the same except..

Barnett Krakowsky, 4y 6m, M, Single, Child, joining Joe Krakowsky - 191 Rimmington? St New york

and the other children as Barnett except...

Leah Krakowsky, 2y 6m, F, Single, Child
Annie Krakowsky, 1y 6m, F, Single, Child
Woolf Krakowsky, infant, M, Single, Child

Jen

Have just seen this .... and Annie Krakowsky is my grandmother.  I had no idea that her family had travelled to the USA.  They couldn't have been there long though, as she had a younger sister, named Jane, who was born in England in the Mile End, London area and they are listed in the 1901 Census.  Btw, someone previously mentioned in this thread that Woolf died young - he didn't  (got married, had children!).

Hi, I'd love to see your photo's! Would love to see if I can see a resemblence between Barnet + his son Joseph!
It's been very confusing looking up this side of the family, although very interesting from a historical point of view.
Cheers
