Sir Ernest Shackleton
« on: Wednesday 21 January 09 21:47 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

During Shackleton's ill fated expedition to the South Pole, a ship was sent out from the UK to rescue him. In the end it wasn't necessary as Shackleton had managed to reach South Georgia.

What I want to know is what was the name of the ship that was sent out to rescue him?

Stewart

Hi Stewart,
This site might help  ???

The story of Shackleton and his men on that trip is one of the most amazing I've ever read.  Better than any fiction!

And here's some more - it appears the ship was called the Aurora:
