Finding a death certificate

I am having difficulty finding a death certificate for Offord Ernest Baker, who died in early 1916  probably in Broome  Western Australia.
I have tried the Gateway to Justice site but seem to get nowhere with it, and all the other sites I try seem to want me to sign up for a month or a year or pay somebody to find out that which I already know.
Can anybody tell me where to look?

Hi Lindy

Unless one of the Rootschatters from WA can help you by going into the Justice Dept, I don't think there is any other way out of paying someone.  Australian records are not readily available and WA indexes only go up to 1905, I think. A trip to the Registrars office is sometimes the only way to get records.

If there is a local library/History Group in Broome they may have transcribed the cemetary records and you could possibly get the information that way.

WA Society of Genealogists maybe able to help, if you contact them.
