Sheer curiosity... Emma Jane Ings (ABEL)
« on: Wednesday 28 January 09 07:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

This is pure curiosity on my part, I've got a person in my tree (not a direct ancestor) who I've found in Portsea Island Home Penitentiary in 1871.  What has made me curious is that it almost looks as if her entire family, a large one that I found in 1861 in Salisbury seem to have scattered to the winds subsequently and made a fair effort to no longer be associated with their origins in any way.

This has made me somewhat curious as to what she actually DID to end up in the Penitentiary...!  How can I find out?

Also, I've not been able to find her subsequent death - found a few Emma Ings, but they mostly seem accounted for with established families prior to 1871...

Ideas anyone???

Regards,

Patricia
