:D  Hi Shirl,  Thank you so much for looking, this seems to be them, are they all DAVIES?   John the son is on the 1851 census married with 4 children  his wifes name is ELIZABETH, have you got the 1861 and 1871 census there that you could check for me if it is not too much trouble,  thanks again Marg,,

Hi Marg

Yes on the 1841 they were all shown as Davies. I think this is the 1861 census for John junior assuming he was born at Lantwit - RG09 piece 4087 folio 39 page 15

Penrhiwngarad Fawr, Lantwit

John age 46, head  farmer and haulier, Lantwit
Elizabeth age 36 wife Cardiff
Gwenllian age 17 unmarried dressmaker, Lantwit
John age 15 unmarried, boat haulier Lantwit
William age 13 Briton Ferry
Llewellyn age 11 Lantwit
Philip age 9 Lantwit
Thomas age 7 Lantwit
Elizabeth age 5 Lantwit
Mary age 3 Lantwit
Ann age 1 Lantwit

Will see if I can find them in 1871
