Look at what FTDNA groups exist and you will get a discount as a member. You can do a basic 12 marker test as a starter. You should get some good basic matches and add to Y search. Then you will have contact with those you know match and maybe do a 36 marker. Don't do more that that because the last boxes will probaly all match. You may find one column shows changes. In my case DYS#534 is being added to test because that column shows up as 18 or 19 compared with other group members and it's the only difference. So the puzzle is am I 18 or 19 or neither.
