Emigrants from UK to Darjeeling
« on: Sunday 01 February 09 17:14 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

New to this and would be grateful for some help please.

Looking to trace a Sarah Ann Anstis who married a Harry Dominey (possibly Doming) who went to Darjeeling with other Devon people to start/work on tea plantations. Looking at UK census records it looks like they possible left between 1881 and 1891.

a) how can I find when and how they went to India, where they landed and lived etc.

b) It appears they also had children. How can I find out about them? If they were born in India etc.

Many thanks in anticipation

You may find something in these links about your family
and reply #4 tells you more about the India Office records.

good luck,
Bob
