Sarah Chapman/Sel(l)wood
« on: Saturday 07 February 09 15:53 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
Although I have done a lot of research on my paternal Sellwoods I am completely stuck with my 2nd great grandmother, Sarah Chapman, regarding her birth, parentage, and death.
In 1827 at her marriage to Thomas Sel(l)wood in Tilehurst she is "of this parish". In 1841 in Tilehurst she is age 35 born in county.
However, the Berks fhs transcript of 1851 has her as age 44 born Basingstoke, Hants. By 1861 she must have been dead although her husband, living in lodgings at Theale, is still recorded as married.
I cannot find Sarah's death or burial at all.  Neither can I find her baptism. The Archbishops transcripts for Old Basing and Basingstoke (Hackman series cd) do not show her and neither is there a Chapman marriage on the cd.

She is not the Sarahann Chapman chr 1808 Bradfield as I have followed that person to 1881.

Any help in finding Sarah's baptism, death or burial would be very gratefully received.
Yours
Vicwinann

Hello Victor and Warncoort,

I have the Tilehurst PRs on cd and the Berks Burial Index both from Berks Family History Society, and my Sarah Sellwood/Chapman is on neither.

Victor, the Sarah buried  in Bucklebury 1885 is Sarah nee Fisher, wife of John Sellwood. She is one of mine, but not my Sarah nee Chapman b 1807ish.
Thank you for looking.
Yours
