Magee updated
« on: Sunday 08 February 09 20:34 GMT (UK) »
can anyone place these people together.?

Martha Magee
Robert magee
James magee

with John Magee and Mary Anne?

John and Mary anne ( no second name yet!) lived within spitting distance of the roe valley country house and no doubt were employed there. ( now Raddissons Hotel)

does anyone know if any record of the staff which were employed there are available?

This has been found so far
While searching the fiche of the 1901 census in Limavady library we found:

Tartnakelly near Ballykelly  Mary Ann Smith head of household aged 56 Widow
                                          John Magee aged 19
                                          Robert Magee aged 15

Robert Magee was married aged 25 in 1913 b approx 1888 but as yes cannot find a birth so we are trying the sibling route to see if anything shows up! cannot find a death for John magee yet either so any suggestions please!

also name "could" be spelt McGee.

Difficult to make sense of your post without more detail.

For example,
"with John Magee and Mary Anne? John and Mary anne ( no second name yet!) lived within spitting distance of the roe valley country house and no doubt were employed there. ( now Raddissons Hotel)"
Were John and Mary Anne married to each other? You give no indication of dates but the marriage would list her maiden name. I did find a John Magee married 1911 Co.Derry to Mary Anne Downey but have no way of knowing if this is any help.

Also, "can anyone place these people together.?
Martha Magee
Robert magee
James magee"
What date would you be talking about? do you suspect they are siblings?

And "Robert Magee was married aged 25 in 1913 b approx 1888 but as yes cannot find a birth so we are trying the sibling route to see if anything shows up! cannot find a death for John magee yet either so any suggestions please!"
Have you tried searching for a birth registration in LDS Pilot site?

If you can clarify your post someone might be able to find information for you or suggest where to look next.

Thanks aghadowey.

We do not know if John and Mary Anne were in fact married. but there children were

Robert, James and Martha
Robert was born @1880
His children were James,(my Grandfather) John , Robert  and others, Robert is the only living relative and this is where the new information came from regarding Martha and  James

The only information I have of Robert is that given on his marriage cert, which stated Father John deceased. Living at Roe Park Tamlaght Finlagan, married at Drumachose Parish Church. June 12th 1913
Robert Died 1970's and is buried at Ballykelly.

He lived on the slate row, and then moved to the Drumrane road, His Son still lives on the drumrane road, (different house!) as does his Grandaughter (so the family really havent moved too far away
I'm fairly sure that The Ritters owned Roe Park at the time Robert was employed there ( He was a farrier) So I think the slate row cottage was a tied cottage.

The only other note:
On My Grandfathers birth cert : James McGee.. Father Robert McGee.

I'm just trying to find anything as this one is a hard nut to crack!

There should be a birth certificate for Robert (and possibly siblings James and Martha as well) but problem might be variations in the spelling of the surname.
The 1911 marriage I posted earlier is much too late for the parents.
Did some searching on IGI (results give variations of names) but can't see anything at the moment.
Have you checked local church records for baptisms and marriages?

A relative is checking all the graveyards etc in the area! and also has managed to access some records on microfiche .
Also she is going to speak with The Grand- daughter to see if she has any old documents as the 3 generations ( robert + wife + daughter + grand-daughter all lived in the same house ( sadly this house was knocked down to make way for new! but maybe something was kept!!!
James ( brother of Robert worked for a local farmer  John Gilfillan until he bacame ill and he also moved in with his brother )

I'm hopeful something will turn up to give us that little nugget, but I think at the moment all we have to go on is information from the family, its just a matter of fitting together all the names and then finding them!

Unfortunately many people either didn't erect gravestones or they didn't survive but it doesn't hurt to check.
Coleraine Library does have microfilm copies of the church records for the area that PRONI hold. If it's any help I have a list of the churches and dates covered.

If you let me know what churches I can check the list (lots of pages) and let you know the dates and types of records on the microfilms.
