I have a brick wall with a John McKnight who was born in Fintona Ireland and married Ann from Clogher .They show up in the 1891,1901 and 1911 census's in Gateshead.John is also down as either fireman or stoker and whilst in Gateshead works at a gas works.I was wondering if you had any more information on McKnights from Ireland.
Many Thanks

He was born according to census about 1858 ,Annie 1859.
Their children are:
Robert 1883
Joseph 1885
Sydney Jane 1888
John DAVID 1890
Margaret 1894
All the children show as born Gateshead so that would place them over from Ireland in 1883.
I havent found a marriage....I dont know their religion sorry.
Thanks

  Name : Sydney Jane McKnight

  Registration district:  Gateshead
  Volume:    10a / Page: 834

In the 1891 census they have a boarder called George Berry also a gas stoker living with them who is from Co Down.In this census it says John is from Co Tyrone the 1901 it just lists Ireland and 1911 it states fantona Co Tyrone .

"fantona Co Tyrone" would be Fintona in Co. Tyrone.

There is an 1882 marriage for a David McKnight in England (with one of the brides on the page names Annie) but it's in Whitehave which isn't near Gateshead.
