Thanks Lucy2 and Althea - I had a feeling that I may have posted this query before but my search on Rootschat did not come up with anything so thought I may have posted this on some other site.
And unfortunately the notes I had on my old family tree programme did not all transfer over to Legacy7 (full version) which I installed late last year.
I am going down to Wellington over Easter and had hoped to spend some time at the Archives NZ but now find they are closed over Easter but my sister and I intend to visit the Bolton Street, Taita and Karori cemeteries to photograph what is available. There well may be an age mistake in the records as John Whitmore should have been 75 or 76 at the time of his death. His marriage in 1900 said his age was 41 - so born about 1859. If 62 is the correct age - he would have been born about 1873 which would have made him about 27 at the time of his marriage - big age gap here.
Both John and Annie are buried in the Catholic section and had the same Funeral Directors - so there is a good chance they might be connected.
Anyway again, many thanks for you diligence
