Marriage - Donaghmore Tyrone
« on: Monday 16 February 09 19:37 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I wonder if anyone can help.  I am researching my G Grandfather/Mother on my dad's side who I know nothing about except that they were married in Donaghmore Tyrone.  I have viewed a few of their children's birth/marriage certs (there were 2 who were born in Glasgow) but on all cannot make out what my GGrandmother's maiden name was.

The information I have is, Parick Grimley married Teresa (Theresa) Fern(s)/Fearon/Ferrons in 1883 at Donaghmore Tyrone.

From the 1891 census in Glasgow it states my Grandfather was born in Ireland abt 1863 and that he had 3 children who were born in Ireland, Alice Grimley abt 1884, William Grimley abt 1885 and Patrick Grimley abt 1888.  I have had a look on the pilot site of Family Search and which shows some children of the same names as above with the same approx dobs born in Dungannon.

Any help or suggestions of where to look next would be most appreciated.

Many thanks
Talia

One tiny little detail would be..........religion!
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Hi Talia,

I was on here just for fun only to find that you seem to be connected into the Grimley family tree that I'm researching.  My mother-in-law's maiden name was Grimley.  Her father's name was George Grimley who was the youngest of 11 children born in 1904 in Partick & died in 1977.  His father was Patrick Grimley who you mention who married Theresa Fernan/Fernon/Ferns.  The poor soul couldn't write, so I think that is why we get so many different spellings.  Patrick did remarry a Minnie O'Neill on Nov. 5, 1924 after Theresa died in 1923.  Patrick's parents are listed as Patrick Grimley & Sarah Goodfellow.  The first 3 children of Patrick & Theresa, Alice, William & Patrick were born in Dungannon & the remaining John, Joseph, Sarah Ann, Mary, Andrew, Peter, Teresa & George were all born in Partick.  I have done a lot of work on the family tree & am curious to find out where you fit into it.  You have got me very curious because up until recently, I didn't seem to be getting anywhere with it especially with the records in Ireland.  We were lucky enough to have travelled over to Scotland this summer & visited with my husband's aunt who still lives in Partick.

Talia,
Are you connected through the Joseph Grimley who married Annie McAulay?  If so then you have probably been on my family tree on the ancestry website.
