I have found my GGrandfathers birth in 1849 but he was not apparently registered in the GRO, can i get a copy of this birth record and if I do what information will it have?
Thank-you

Hi Melaniejoy

Welcome to RootsChat!  :D

How have you determined he is not registered with the GRO?  Is this from GRO records direct or from FreeBMD etc?

Best wishes

I've checked BMD 192.com and ancestry.com. Cannot find record of him or his older sister and that might be because his parents were not married until 1852 and then they registered all the children they have afterwards.

Have you tried looking for the registrations under the mother's maiden name?  This is always worth trying if the parents are not married.  Also, have you tried name variations eg I have the surname Larkin in my family but I have to check Larkins, Larking and Larken as well as Larkin. I have even found them recorded as Ladkin on one census.

If you post the names you are looking for here someone may be able to help you.

Suggest you tell us the names on this thread to start with.
If no one comes forward with any help here, then you could post a new query on the London look up board.

Paul, I do not have Richard before 1871 and he died shortly afterward. He is in London (Greenwich) with his wife Caroline.

Russell does not show up in the 1871 at all but Caroline and most of the other children are there.

1871  I Have no idea where Russell is but in the 1881 he has taken his father's name Ric' and birthplace of Scotland (not true!) and is living with his wife and four children. Like Richard he was an architect.
