Completed Arthur Thomas -1891 1901 census
« on: Tuesday 17 February 09 10:28 GMT (UK) »
Hello
I seem to have hit a brick wall before I have begun and have gone round in circles not getting very far.
I have a marriage cert for 13.11.1905 - the marriage of
Arthur Thomas to Carrie Trembath

Arthur is shown as 21 yrs old Colliery Repairer Batchelor residing at 11 Edmundstown Penygraig
His father Stephen Thomas - occupation Baker.

I have been able to trace Carrie's family at 5 Sunnybank Williamstown but I cannot find Arthur on 1891 or 1901 census.
I cannot find the address of 11 Edmundstown Penygraig to see who is residing there.

I wonder if Arthur who also has a middle name of John on his daughters birth cert may have lost his father when young. I cannot find a Stephen Thomas who is a Baker during these years.

I assumed by 1905 they would state on a marriage cert if a father was deceased.

I would appreciate a kind person taking another look at these two census records again- maybe I am missing something.

Any ideas on tracking down this family greatly appreciated.
The two witnesses at the marriage are William and John Thomas. They could be brothers.

Yours in hope with thanks
Sue

Hello

I have looked at the 1891 census and found an Edmund Street Ystadyfodwch which is the Parish for Penygraig and the family that are
living there at that time are named Isaac.  They also have lodgers living
there but none named Thomas. I found this on findmypast but I cannot look at the 1901 on this site as they have not transcribed it yet.

Maybe of some help

Sylvia
