Henry LINFORD - Birmingham 1901
« on: Saturday 21 February 09 11:55 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help me to find Henry LINFORD in the Birmingham area in 1901.  He was born in Aston registration district in 1897.  Unfortunately that is all I know at the moment.

Any help much appreciated.

I am still struggling with my illusive Henry.

I ordered his birth certificate and his parents were Charles Linford and Annie Elizabeth Linford nee Latham.  Charles was a cycle fitter.

I can find Charles and Annie in 1891 but by 1901 Charles is married to Eliza Jane and Henry is not with them.  Charles and Eliza married in Dec Q 1898.

I can not find a death reference for Annie/Ann in 1897/8 (she registered Henry's birth on 16 June 1897 so it would have been after that date) and a search of 1911 index for Henry has also drawn a blank.

Would be very glad of any help with this one.

Hello Pinetree
Searched the full death indexes but it looks like neither was registered.
I would think from their 1901 address that any interment would have taken place at Witton Cemetery. You could email them and ask but there may be a charge for this.

Jim,

Thanks for your help with this one.

Henry really does not want to be found does he?  I know he married Elsie Moss in 1920 and they had two children so he must be somewhere in 1901 and 1911.

There's always one isn't there  ;)

Will try the cemetery thanks for the suggestion.

All the best,

Pinetree

Pinetree,

It looks very much as though your Henry was the son of one of the brothers of my paternal grandmother, Emma, born Aston, 1864. I know very little about the Linford side of the family but will try to locate Henry for you. Give me a day or two.

Hi Natalie,

Thank you for your response.

I was actually researching this family for a friend of my mother's but thank you so much for your offer of help.  Good luck with your family tree.

Also Keith, it appears I owe you a long overdue apology for not responding to your message.  It looks as if I missed it somehow.

All the best,

Pinetree

No worries! My mum once mentioned that we are also somehow related to the Cadbury family (Cadbury chocolate) through Beulah's side, I think there was an affair or something,
But I can't find anything out regarding this just have my mum's brief mention of it ! It's hard tracing family lines. But I love learning about my history! But yeah feel free to email if you ever need to! All the best , take care x

Pinetree,

Are we talking about the same Henry? My records have him married to Catherine (Kate) Blackwell in 1886 and dying in the 3rd quartr of 1919. Ref: 6d 395
In 1901 the family were living at House 8, 2 Court, Paddington St., Aston. The 1911 census shows him widowed and living witth two of his children, Arthur (23) and Catherine (15) at 51 Paddington St. Although I'm inclined to agree with Jim as to likely place of burial a search of Birmingham Council owned burial grounds doesn't show him up so I suppose its posssible he was buried at St Peter and St Paul, Aston.
