I am looking into the origins of my Great Great Grandparents Henry and Anne (Brophy) Spencer who came from Ireland. Henry was born about 1811 and Anne around 1821. Both were of the Roman Catholic religion.
There were a family of Brophy's who were Stonemasons who moved from Roseanalis. Co Laois to Vicarstown in the same County. This was at the same time as the canal was been built there. My gt gt grandad Henry Spencer was also a stonemason and records show that a Henry Spencer also lived in Roseanalis. He married Ann Brophy around 1835 and she may have been part of the above family?
Around 1854, along with their children Susan, Lucy, George, Mary, Ann, Ellen, Margaret and Elizabeth, the family sailed to Liverpool from Newry and eventually settled in the North of England where Agnes (Preston), Julia, Henry jnr (Blackburn) and Joseph (Bradford) were born.
If anyone has any information on the above family I would be pleased to know.
