Help with Surname: Harr
« on: Saturday 28 February 09 19:33 GMT (UK) »
My great grandfather was Thomas Harr.  He was born abt 1833 in Tipperary, Ireland.  He married my great grandmother, Eliza Corcoran (from Dublin) prior to 1875.  He also immigrated to the US prior to 1875.  I am unsure where the marriage took place.

With such little information, is it a hopeless cause?  Any assistance would be appreciated

I haven't come across that surname before but if you search for "hare" you will see there are many variations:

On a tombstone of a relative I saw the name "Herr" but was told it was a mistake.  I was also told that "Harr" started out as something similar to "O'Harr", but I have nothing to prove that.
