Morning Tati

On the money as usual .... sigh  ;D

The 1911 has father down as John H Bassett, but that is not viewing the original document, so unless there is a transcription error I think we are ok.

Well, maybe not, given the marriage registration. Was he definitely born in Linkinhorne?

According to the 1911 census, but would have been registered in Liskeard I think?  I can't view the 1901 census due to my firewall at work (naughty me).

I can't see a better match for a John born Linkinhorne.

In 1881 this family goes by the name Hawkin

Tati

That is close to genius!

All the names and ages correlate to the 1991 - very well done.  But why did they drop the Bassett in the 1881, or, include the Bassett in the 1991?

The plot thickens!!

Searching for the children's birth registrations ...

Ellen, maybe?
Louisa Ellen Hocking, Mar 1888, Liskeard 5c 54

Frank?
Frank Bassett Jun 1885 Liskeard 5c 48

Lily
Lily Bassett Dec 1880 Liskeard 5c 48

Thomas
Thomas Hocking Bassett - Sep 1878 Liskeard 5c 50

William
William Hocking Bassett Dec 1875 Liskeard 5c 59

Best match I can see for John is
John Kemp Bassett Mar 1883 5c 49

Not so sure!

Maybe dad was illegitimate and that's why he used 2 names. I'll try to find him on earlier censuses.

(The family are Hocking in 1901)
