Hi,

Pembrokeshire is THE most south-westerly county; Carmarthenshire is quite often included as being part of the south-west. That's my opinion so now I'll wait for everybody else's opinion!  ;D

Regards,
Lee.
Morriston - Williams, Thomas
Taibach & Margam - Lucas, Thomas, Griffith(s), David
Gower - Lucas, Richard(s), Beynon, Bevan, Ace, Gorton (Gordon), Eaton
Begelly - Nash, Cole, Bowen

Hi Mona,
S-W Wales is a rather vague term, probably most useful for weather-forecasts; I would agree with Lee that Carmarthenshire should be included, and most people with local knowledge I think would include Cardiganshire (now Ceredigion), which from 1974 to 1996 with Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire formed the county of Dyfed, for which see Wikipedia.
                            Pinot    :)

Hi Mona,
If you live in North Wales (or the rest of the UK), yes; in the south the western parts are called west Wales, which has one meaning only. Only a native can give you a definitive answer . . . Anybody there?

Not sure I would describe Swansea as West Wales, but perhaps rather than answering the question we should be asking why you're asking?

Kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Swansea is most certainly south. The BBC  consider it south-west.  As a former inhabitant, I'd say there's still a lot of Wales to the west of Swansea, but it's definitely not east!

As another former inhabitant, I'd agree!

Mona you still haven't said why you're asking - maybe we can help more if we know what the issue is?
