If you go to the Hugh Wallis Site http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/ and look up Sussex and then Ewhurst you can find baptisms for all the children including Jane 6 June 1825 and an Eliza 10 November 1816 all to Benjamin and Hannah.

I would love to know where the Cuckney comes in though.  I can't find a second marriage for Hannah - a mystery.

Some interesting finds there Kerry.

Wonder why Jane b 1825 didn't show up when I did an IGI parent search? (I WAS in a rush and may have done something wrong  ;) )

That Cuckney surname is very curious .... there can't be any other explanation apart from a remarriage. Kerry, did you notice any other Cuckney's on the same ship? or maybe Mr Cuckney went ahead before the rest of the family?  :-\ Unusual surname ....

I had a look on the Sussex Marriage Index earlier for a remarriage of Hannah Davis but nothing came up.  A search of Cuckney did bring the surname up twice in nearby Salehurst.

But yes very curious.

Well bless my socks and anything else I missed that!

Brilliant  :D

On another tack I've just googled Palmyra and found the following website http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/australia/au1838.htm  It sailed from Gravesend, Kent.
