Thank you - that is brilliant! any idea why so many of the local boys seemed to marry girls from the home counties area? My husband's grandfather was a Fall brought up in that area but married a girl who had previously been in service in the Berkshire area (where she was born)- this mystery has confounded us for some time - any ideas?

Not a clue, unless people had moved around for work, which was probably the usual reason they ended up living in a place.
