Date please if possible
« on: Sunday 08 March 09 12:39 GMT (UK) »
Could anyone please date my Nan? On the back of the photograph is written "mum stokes" and indicated herself "mrs Harding" with a cross above her head. Any chance that the numbers on the back of it would tell me anything about the photograph?

The number just refers to the stock and image.Take a photo, give a chit with the number
on and claim it at the studio.
1940's I would say and is that a gas mask she's carrying?

;D

I saw the gas mask box and was about to post but then I got called away.

I hasten to add that I was born too late to wear one but  Mum and Dad kept them in the 'junk' cupboard for ages and I played with them. Hence I recognised the box  :)

Also note the predominance of women in the photo - even on the benches.

so this wouldve been during ww2, which narrows it down alot date wise. My mother was born in 1945 in Shropshire, and nan was married in 1943 i think. Nan's family all came from Cheshire, so they wouldve made the move to Shropshire roughly a year before my mothers birth. The picture definately isnt in Shropshire, and i dont recognise it as being in cheshire either so im guessing it was taken somewhere else and between 1942-43.
