Comiskey / Comesky - Dunderry Nr Navan **Updated**
« on: Sunday 08 March 09 22:05 GMT (UK) »
This thread has been dormant for some time so in a bid to resurrect it, i am trying to identify what RC church / parish would cover Dunderry - the sites for meath are very clear.. Anybody?
****************************************************

Hope you can help on this.  I have just traced my Dublin family to Navan via a Mathew Comiskey (though one record has Comesky!).
The record , which is transcribed not an original so i unable to validate for errors, suggest the parish of Dunderry and a birth of Richard Comiskey in 1847.  His parents are Mathew Comiskey / Comesky and Mary Reilly.

This is the first time i have stepped out of Dublin for this and am not familiar with the geography etc so would appreciate any direction on my next steps and local knowledge on the town.
Initial search suggest that Comiskey is not overly popular as a name in Navan so will this help or hinder?
I look forward to your help and / or advice.

Hi Stockton
Navan is approx 28 miles from Dublin.

Dunderry is about 8 miles from Navan.

A quick check shows this name 5 times in and around Navan.

Comiskey's in Kilmessan (4 miles from Navan) Wilkinstown (2 miles from Navan) Duleek (about 10 miles from Navan) Kells (6 miles from Navan) and one in Navan town itself.

Spelt Comaskey shows twice, one in Navan and one in Kells.

The name with both spellings appears in other Counties- mainly Cavan
