* COMPLETED * passenger lists from Canada to UK
« on: Tuesday 10 March 09 13:59 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

We're researching an ancestor who immigrated to Canada in 1929, but then returned home to England sometime within the next 6 years.   He died in Bath in 1934.   Does anyone know where I can find a record of his return trip?

His name is David John Broadfoot, and he was probably travelling with wife Mildred and children Mary, Arthur & Wallace.

Thanks for your help,
Kim

Luckily there was Wallace, or I might have missed them!

The whole family (David, 34, a farmer; Mildred, 32, a Housewife; Mary, 7; Arthur, 5 and Wallace, 4) travelled back to England - not from Canada, but from Rangoon in Burma on the Alaunia, arriving in London on 29th March 1934. Their address in England was 70 The Oval in Bath.

This record is on Ancestry.co.uk:  UK Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960

I think there must be a mistake, actually, as, looking at the actual papers, it says that they embarked in Halifax which is, unless I am very much mistaken, in Canada. It also gives Canada as their country of last permanent residence. The ship called in at New York as well and took on passengers there. The papers also say that the ship arrived on March 7th 1934.
