How can i find out about a double murder around 1900 in Liverpool?

Ive just found out a fascinating story about relations of mine sinse i am doing my family tree. can anyone please do a look up of some sort for me please?
there was terriblle double murder of:

Andrew edgar (merchant seaman)
B: 1862 Bridgeton Glasgow
D:1900 Liverpool
and his wife
susan bell edgar (nee findlay)
Birth: 1866 Glasgow Barony, Lanarkshire, Scotland
Death: abt 1900 Liverpool, England, United Kingdom

they were both murdered in liverpool round the turn of the century a man was hung for it in liverpool.

can anyone please shed any light on this or give me info please?
who was the man that was hung?
how could i find out about this case?

and susan bell findley his wife were murdered in liverpool round the turn of the century a man was hung for it in liverpool I am investigating but currently cant find anyrthing.

I can see Andrew's death in Liverpool 1900 age 39 (freeBMD) Ican't see Susan's death, or a murder on the different sites Ive looked at..

Have you got Andrew Edgar's Death certificate...?   It would help confirm (or not) whether he was murdered.  It will also show who the informant was.  If it was his wife Susan rather than some other relative then that would show that she was still alive (and therefore not murdered with him). 

This one (as Hepburn said) looks to be the most likely.  If they both died at the same time you would expect to see Susan listed on the same page which she is not.

Friday morning a married man's body by the name of Andrew Evans in the Soutt Sandon Dock Liverpool. It appears that the deceased was working on the steamer Elstree Grange and he was lost from the ship since Tuesday. He was taken to the mortuary where he is now awaiting his inquest.
