LOUGHBORD, IRELAND

I have a Jane Killuly who was born in 1805 and her birthplace is Loughbord, Ireland. I can't find anything at all to do with either Killuly or Loughbord.

I don't have much else to go on unfortunately, except that I found only a couple of Killuly names in Ireland and they were in Roscommon.   The name Killuly and the place Loughbord seem to be equally elusive.

Go to this site and enter LOUGHB choose "at the start of the field" and Roscommon and you have a list of candidates.

Perhaps it's Loughbally?

Killully was a rare name. See http://scripts.ireland.com/ancestor/surname/index.cfm There were only two households and both in Roscommon.

She must have come from one of those families since it's such a rare name.  It makes you wonder how a lone female came to live in Derbyshire and married an ancestor because the Shaws didn't move around much at all so she must have gone there for some reason herself.

Hi,

It was very common for people to travel where they already had family members. If there are no other Killullys in the area, it may be cousins with another surname but still Irish.
