Faceless couple restore please

Hi folks,

can anyone have a go at restoring this photo.  It difficult as both their faces are very poor but if anyone can get them any clearer I would be very gratreful.

As Jim says, it might me possible to get something out of this if it was scanned at 300-600 dpi with no jpg compression.

I see that Terry had a go 3 weeks ago.

This is the best that I can get with what you've put up - I've adjusted the curves (tonal balance) on one of the colour channels of the photo - One at the size that you put up and one enlarged but showing the pixels (checkered pattern).

I've not done any restoration work except this so that you can see the patterning caused by the low resolution of the image.

Also, the first one layered over your original image with a 60% opacity.

Thanks alot for all your tries,  I do understand but am unable to rescan the photo as I have given it back to its owner.  Unfortunately I didn't know about the rootschat site until after that.  If I can get the photo back again I will try rescanning it and see what you can do with it then.

Do anyone know if I printed the scan I have and then tried to rescan it at a higher dpi would that work?
