Sunderland Address(Completed)
« on: Friday 20 March 09 08:16 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I have just looked at an address on the 1911 census and am struggling to decipher it.
All that is written at the bottom is 20 Beckville and then a squiggle which could be Rd St or Ct.
Does anyone know where this is or was?

Hi Lyn,
There does not appear to have been a Beckville in Sunderland, but there were many Back such and such  Streets. Is it definitely one word?

Hi,
A bit disappointed with this as there seems to be less info on the 1911 than the others.
It is hard to work out which area it is in.
The address looks like Beckville, options could be Bechville, Mechville, Meckville but they make no sense.
The transcript says Beechville but there is not 2 e's on the handwritten.
Thanks for your time.

There is a Beechville Street. On http://gis.durham.gov.uk/website/interMAP/viewer.htm enter the post code SR47NA in "search".

Hi all,
Just got back from shopping and found all your lovely replies.
I had started going through the 1901 before I went out to see if I could find Beechville street. The family is Mason, he was a boot maker and they had a shop and also owned property.
William Frederick and Mary Jane Mason were my GGrandparents but owing to a divorce I know very little about them.
My Grandmother was Elizabeth Jane and I have her marriage and birth certs so I knew who I was looking for.
Mary Jane was a Crofton so I tracked her up until her marriage to William in 1887 but have been unable to find the family in the 1891 and 1901, if anyone has any ideas I would be grateful.
Thanks for all your help.
